Golf Course Design Collaborative Looks to Build on Momentum

Saunderstown, Rhode Island, USA - January 22, 2009 - The Northeast Golf Company heads into the New Year with a full slate of jobs under contract. Following a very busy 2008 of growth with many interesting renovation golf course projects, 2009 looks to be a continuation of the same. Existing jobs and additional design undertakings on the docket will demand full attention.

Northeast Golf, led by Robert McNeil, Principal Golf Course Architect, has been creating award winning golf course designs and improvements for more than 10 years. They provide comprehensive golf course enhancement and master plans, renovation designs and restoration services. The golf course design project at The Mohegan Sun Country Club exemplifies the company’s perspective, philosophy and quality of work. The Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority has entrusted McNeil and Northeast Golf to develop an in Baltic, CT. The Club, originally designed by Geoffrey Cornish, uniquely operates as both a private facility for a membership base and visitors to its Mohegan Sun Casino in nearby Uncasville, CT.

The comprehensive redo at Mohegan Sun incorporates addressing irrigation, drainage, new holes, several new greens, all new bunkers and tees. Additional storage needed to address irrigation, the initial catalyst for the project, will produce material from the creation of three new ponds that will be utilized to enhance existing contours and support new features. The work is scheduled for 2009-10 with the course reopening in 2011.

Ongoing major renovation projects at Lawrence Village Golf Club, Lawrence Village, NY, Sterling Farms Golf Course, Stamford, CT and Orchard Hills Golf Course, Paramus, NJ are scheduled for completion in 2009.

Bergen County Parks hired Robert McNeil to create a Master Plan for its four golf courses - Darlington, Rockleigh, Orchard Hills, Overpeck- that would set the tone of golf operation over the next ten years.

Master Plans being developed at Burning Tree Country Club in Greenwich, CT and Roxiticus Golf Club in Mendham, NJ along with work at Mendham Golf & Tennis Club present the firm with opportunities for creative resolution and stylistic preservation.

The extensive renovation work at Bergen County’s Rockleigh Golf Course - Blue, Rockleigh, NJ also continues in 2009 as does Morris County’s
Sunset Valley Golf Course in Pompton Plains, NJ.
