Process: New Course Design

Our approach is hands-on, field based. We spend considerable time walking the land, studying topographical and aerial mapping in order to develop a hand-crafted routing of the holes as they best fit within the natural character of the property. This routing is worked and reworked to form a synthesis with the site’s environmental sensitivity, local design requirements, and the overall project parameters set forth by our clients. We work closely with each course developer to establish a product style that meets the needs of the market being served and the signature of the land plan.

Once all of these design elements are managed with careful thought and the course layout fits into the fabric of the site, a final routing is drawn as the foundation for a set of detailed construction documents from which the course will be built. We marry the traditional hand sketches with CAD generated technical drawings to produce a comprehensive set of plans.
