Originally opened in 1895, Fall River Country Club is steeped in history, playing host to exhibition matches with Francis Ouimet, Harry Vardon, and Bobby Jones. The current holes 1, 2, 13, 14, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 9 constituted the "Old Nine" as it is known at the club, and was considered one of the best layouts in New England by both Bobby Jones and Francis Ouimet. After iterations such as the Old Nine and earlier course layouts by multiple designers and golf architects, the club eventually expanded to 18 holes in the 1970's under the direction of architect, Geoffrey Cornish. In 2022 the club hired Robert McNeil, ASGCA to present a master plan of improvements. The beginning stages of tree removal were undertaken and in the winter of 2022-2023 the 4th hole was renovated to create a stunning short par-4 over the water. We are excited about our future work with the club as we continue to execute the master plan.
