Kernwood Country Club is a classic Donald Ross design from early in his career (1915-1918). Located on Boston's North Shore in Salem, MA, Kernwood Country Club features a fantastic routing which takes advantage of the unique property jutting into the Crane River. Our work at Kernwood began in 2006. In 2020 we renovated 44 bunkers as well as other features of the golf course in an effort to recapture the Ross styling of the era. Careful consideration was given to the planning of the project, ensuring that the style of Donald Ross which was present at the courses inception in the early 20th century was restored. The club had ground photographs, aerial photography, and Ross' original hand drawings which assisted us in our work. The end product is a golf course which looks, feels, and plays in a way which we feel would make Mr. Ross proud.
