The major renovation and restyling of Mohegan Sun Country Club in Baltic, CT was designed for the Mohegan Tribal Commission by Golf Course Architect, Robert McNeil and built by NMP Golf Construction. The work was an effort to freshen the look and strategy of the course while solving some inherent functional and agronomic issues. The project included the construction of 68 newly styled bunkers, new greens, surrounds and approaches, new tee complexes increased in scale and varied in angle, newly routed holes embracing the broad reaching elevations on the property, a complete cart path system, 3 lakes with automatic water transfer, extensive drainage and a state of the art Toro irrigation system. The project is a successful exercise in creative storm water management and environmental stewardship; reducing the maintained area on the course by 10 acres while capturing a majority of the rainfall into the lakes for irrigation use. Mohegan Sun Golf Club received the ASGCA Design Excellence Award upon completion and is consistently ranked in the top 10 courses you can play in CT
